A Pause Between Chapters

In a town known for energy and celebration, The Bookend will offer something rarer — composure. A place where time slows. Where details matter. Where hospitality feels personal again.

Rooted in history and guided by intention, every space is being restored with care — designed not for spectacle, but for meaning.

Opening September 2026.

Timeless Design

A thoughtfully restored 1938 building blending heritage architecture with modern comfort.

Intimate Scale

A refined retreat created for lingering, conversation, and quiet evenings.

A Grown-Up Bar

Classic cocktails. Soft jazz. Atmosphere without noise.

The Bookend Hotel is the vision of Layton and Lauren Johns — a husband-and-wife team drawn to restoration, design, and meaningful hospitality. As the former Stillwater Public Library begins its next chapter, they are honored to serve as its new librarians, curators, and caretakers.

Lauren brings a refined eye for timeless interiors and thoughtful detail. Layton contributes a background in construction, finance, and long-range vision. Together, they are restoring this landmark with intention — creating a place where history, community, and quiet luxury meet.
